Original roots county music from the piedmont of North Carolina. Polecat Creek was named for a small stream that winds south through southeastern Guilford County in North Carolina; Edward R. Murrow and O.Henry were born along its banks, masters in a long line of storytellers.

The tradition continues today, with
latter-day southern songwriting duo of Kari Sickenberger and Laurelyn
Dossett. They have been singing together for 10 years, accompanied
by some of the finest old-time and bluegrass musicians in North
Carolina. Polecat Creek has two recordings: Salt
Sea Bound (2002) and Leaving
Eden (2004).

Laurelyn Dossett, Martha Bassett, and Scott Manring put their own spin on traditional gospel music. Featuring original songs by Laurelyn, Martha, and other local songwriters from the North Carolina piedmont. This is the newest of Laurelyn’s musical collaborations; there are plans for a recording soon.

Laurelyn and Riley have played together for years in Polecat Creek, and more recently collaborated on Brother Wolf. Their duo act includes traditional Appalachian tunes, the music of Brother Wolf, as well as both Riley and Laurelyn’s original songs.
